In 1995 Erin began studying the work of Harry Dent, an economist and demographer who predicted that sometime around the year 2008 there would be a significant downturn in the financial markets. While not fully convinced that this would actually happen, Erin was smart enough to ask herself, "what if this does happen?" She realized that the majority of traditional financial planning was done under the premise that the stock market always goes up and realized how dangerous of a situation her clients could be in if that premise ever changed. With this in mind she began developing strategies to prepare her clients for a possible stock market collapse.

As we all know now, the stock market did experience a significant drop in late 2008 through 2009. Until that time Erin's strategy had really just been a theory, but when her clients who had taken her advice did not have to change their lifestyles as a result of the downturn, she realized the significance and strength of her strategy.

That event caused Erin to realize how limited her efforts had been in helping people prepare for that time. She had only been able to help the several hundred clients she was working with at the time. Realizing that there are likely many difficult days still ahead, Erin decided to write a book outlining her strategy for creating a stable and predictable retirement. That book, which was just released in January 2012, is called The Big Retirement Risk: Running Out of Money Before You Run Out of Time.

Erin’s goal now is to educate baby boomers and retirees about strategies and methods they can use to take control of their own future and reduce the risk of running out of money.
